NY Klezmer Series: Benefit for Ukrainian Children of War
Opis wydarzenia
The NY Klezmer Series proudly presents: Benefit for Ukraine's Children of War Featuring from Ukraine: Kommuna Lux! Formed in 2014 in Odesa, the group plays a blend of klezmer, Balkan rhythms, and urban chanson. Kommuna Lux emerges as a genre-fluid force — seamlessly blending Ukrainian folk traditions with klezmer, Balkan swing, and contemporary influences into a sound that is both deeply rooted and globally resonant. Their performances pulse with infectious rhythm, fearless improvisation, and emotional intensity — at once celebratory, theatrical, and profoundly moving. This will be a little different than our usual evenings - no Community Klezmer Band rehearsal, but there may be a klezmer jam session after. There will be a short presentation before the concert.
