An Evening with Mark Spragg
Opis wydarzenia
Elk River Arts & Lectures and Elk River Books present a reading and conversation with Mark Spragg, acclaimed and award-winning author of three novels and one memoir. This free event will take place Thursday, October 8, at 7 pm at Elk River Books, 122 S. 2nd St.. Doors open at 6:30 pm with remarks at 7 pm. Spragg is the author of Where Rivers Change Direction, a memoir that won the 2000 Mountains & Plains Independent Booksellers award, and the novels The Fruit of Stone, An Unfinished Life, and Bone Fire. All four were top 10 Book Sense selections and An Unfinished Life was chosen by the Rocky Mountain News as the Best Book of 2004. Of that book, Curtis Edmonds, in a review for bookreporter, writes that “[t]hough it is deeply steeped in Wyoming, Spragg's second novel speaks directly to us, with the transcendent clarity of carefully crafted prose, where we are and who we are amidst the pain of our everyday struggles and defeats. Spragg's writing, like the Wyoming landscape, is spare and unadorned, but it is also uncommonly beautiful in the right light.” Spragg’s work has been translated into fifteen languages. He lives in Wyoming with his wife, Virginia, with whom he wrote the screenplay for the film version of his novel, An Unfinished Life, starring Robert Redford, Morgan Freeman, and Jennifer Lopez, and released in 2005. For those who can’t attend in person, the event will live-stream on the Elk River Books YouTube channel. For more information, email info@elkriverbooks.com or call (406) 333-2330.
